My paintings are never about what I see — they are about the energy I feel.

Last year, I traveled to the beautiful Douro Valley in northern Portugal, expecting to be inspired by the rich autumn colors of the vineyards — the reds and yellows painting the hills in October. The landscape was breathtaking, full of visible beauty. But that wasn’t what moved me most.

What truly stayed with me was the place we stayed — a small guesthouse filled with an incredible sense of calm. Its light, spacious, and minimalist design blended perfectly with the serene energy of its owner, Maria, whose quiet presence made the space feel like a sanctuary.

It was that atmosphere — the softness, the peace, the harmony — that inspired this series. Even if the paintings show the beach, their essence carries the same calm that I felt there.
